Terms and Conditions

1. General 

1.1 Participation in the Awards implies acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. 

1.2 The Awards recognise outstanding achievement across a range of Olympic and sport-related disciplines, including but not limited to: Athlete Performance and Achievements, High Performance Programmes and National Governing Bodies, Communications and Art, Coaching, and Volunteering.  

1.3 Nominations must be submitted via the official online platform. Nominations submitted in hard copy or via email will not be accepted. 

1.4 All required fields must be completed in full. No changes can be made after submission. In case of an error, contact the Organiser immediately via events@olympicsport.ie. 

1.5 Nominations must be received no later than Wednesday, 8th October 2025 at 1:00 PM. Late nominations will not be accepted unless a deadline extension is publicly announced by the Organiser. 

1.6 Only invited members are eligible to submit nominations for Awards, excluding awards designated for public submissions – see list below. This can include National Governing Bodies, Athletes, Performance Directors and members of the media. Members may also nominate individuals or teams within their organisations.  

1.7 Projects or initiatives entered must have been active during the period of Oct 1st of the previous year to Oct 1st of the year of the Awards. In certain circumstances, for example to show consistency and progress, achievements or work done prior to the award period is also eligible. 

1.8 All submitted information must be truthful. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify entries containing false or misleading information. 

1.9 All entries are subject to audit. By entering, Entrants agree to cooperate with reasonable verification requests. 

1.10 The Organiser is not responsible for technical issues that prevent an entry from being submitted. A confirmation email will be issued for all successful submissions. 

1.11 The Organiser reserves the right to amend or reject incomplete entries and to disqualify any entrant breaching these Terms. 

2. Award Categories 

Open for Public Nomination 

The following categories are open to public entry or nomination via the official submission platform: 

  1. Community Impact Award
  1. Creator of the Year Award 

All entries will be evaluated based on the specific judging criteria for each award category. Multiple entries are permitted but must be tailored to each category. 

Closed Categories (Not Open to Public Nomination) 

The following awards will be nominated from within the industry – eg NGBs, Coaches and HPDs, and members of the Irish Olympians Association. The exception is the Presidents Award which is chosen directly by the Olympic Federation of Ireland. Nominations will not be accepted from the public for these categories: 

  1. Female Athlete of the Year 
  1. Male Athlete of the Year 
  1. Coach of the Year 
  1. High Performance Programme of the Year 
  1. Olympic Sporting Moment of the Year 
  1. Rising Star 
  1. High Performance Programme of the Year 
  1. OFI President’s Award 

3. Judging 

3.1 By submitting an nomination, Entrants agree to have their applications reviewed by the appointed judging panel and relevant third parties supporting the Awards. 

3.2 All judging is conducted confidentially and independently. The Organiser will appoint a diverse panel of judges to ensure fair evaluation which can be seen on the Olympic Sport Awards website. 

3.3 The shortlist will be determined by a pre-selection committee before final review and scoring by the judging panel. 

3.4 An in-person or online adjudication session will take place in advance of the Awards ceremony. Public vote will form part of the final selection.  

3.5 The judges’ decisions are final. No feedback, discussion, or correspondence will be entertained. There will be no appeal process. 

3.6 The Organiser may reassign entries to alternate categories if appropriate. 

3.7 The Organiser reserves the right not to issue an award in any category where entries do not meet the required standard. 

3.8 Entrants may submit entries to multiple categories. However, sponsors may not enter the category they are sponsoring. 

3.9 Award nominees will be notified in advance of the shortlist going live 

4. Attendance at the Award Ceremony 

4.1 All nominated individuals or groups are invited to attend the Olympic Sport Awards free of charge and may bring one complimentary guest

4.2 In the case of a nominated group or team, between 2 to 4 complimentary tickets will be allocated depending on the group’s size. 

4.3 Additional tickets may be purchased separately, subject to availability. 

4.4 All shortlisted nominees must send a representative to attend the ceremony to collect the award if successful. 

4.5 If a shortlisted nominee fails to attend without notifying the Organiser, the entry may be withdrawn or reassigned at the Organiser’s discretion. 

4.6 Attendees must cover their own travel and accommodation costs. Complimentary tickets do not carry any cash value. 

4.7 The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry or remove attendees displaying inappropriate behaviour, including but not limited to intoxication, abuse, or disruption. 

4.8 If you have dietary requirements or accessibility needs, please notify the Organiser at least three weeks in advance of the Awards on any given year. 

5. Promotion and Publicity 

5.1 Winners may reference their award in marketing or promotional materials but must specify the category and year. 

5.2 By participating, entrants and winners grant the Organiser the right to use any submitted or captured materials (photos, video, written content) for promotional purposes without limitation or further consent. 

6. Liability and Disputes 

6.1 The Organiser accepts no liability for loss or damage to property at the Awards Ceremony. 

6.2 The Organiser is not liable for costs, damages, or losses resulting from any disruption, delay, or cancellation of the Awards, including force majeure events. 

6.4 The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or amend the Awards and these Terms at any time. Should the event be cancelled, postponed, moved to another venue or amended in anyway, Attendees shall be notified in writing promptly. 

6.5 The Organiser excludes all liability whatsoever for any technical failure or any other problem with any online system, server or otherwise which may result in a vote being lost or not properly registered or recorded.  

6.6 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by Irish law. 

6.7 In the event of any dispute, the parties agree to mediation via Sport Dispute Solutions Ireland before pursuing arbitration. 

7. Intellectual Property 

7.1 All intellectual property associated with the Olympic Sport Awards remains the sole property of the Olympic Federation of Ireland and may not be reproduced or exploited without express written permission.
